Tampa bay downs is an American horse racing event that takes place in Tampa, Florida. This is an event that takes place each year and it was opened in 1926 with the name of Tampa Downs. The first of this race was known a Florida Downs and is made up of a main track that is one mile dirt oval.

Travel from Tampa Florida and you will catch live racing action that starts from December all the way to May. Most visitors to Tampa Florida are treated to horse racing making it one of the most visited areas in America during the months of December all the way to May.

It is not necessarily that you are a hardcore racing fan for you to enjoy your day at the races. It is really fun to go out to the track to see the horses decked out in their different colors with their legs having bands of many colors to match their blankets.

The venue is just a nice place that is covered so you have a nice view of the track regardless of where you are sited and you have enough protection from those showers of Florida which occurs mostly in the afternoon. If you want an up close view you can go to the open air seating that is near the track.

The area has got enough parking and is easily accessible from both Tampa and St. Petersburg and its environs. The reason why this takes place in the month of December is that it is the coolest month for the horses to be running.
