Located northeast of downtown Tampa is historic landmark, The Ybor City. Founded in the 1880's and named after Vincent Martinez Ybor, this city originated with the commencement of cigar factories. It was known as the Cigar Capital of the world once.
Ybor city has been given the title of National Historic Landmark District by the United States government for its historical significance. There are several places within the area registered under National Register of Historic Places. It is one out of only three national historic districts in Florida.
The Ybor City is now known for its nightlife and the bars and clubs. There is a wide range available for entertainment ranging from techno dance clubs, happy hour bars to live music jazz bars and much more. Once you enter the Latin area of Tampa, and you'll be amazed by the jazz music which is played in many different styles, the smell of cigars and the cool and happening streets.
