The Tampa Tribune is one of the major newspapers which are published in the Tampa Bay area. It has one of the highest rates of readership and circulation in the city. The publication of this paper started from the 1895 when the printing qualities were upgraded.

In the year 1966 the Richmond Newspapers bought the newspaper along with the sister properties FM and TV and the WFLA AM and in 1969 it became the Media General. In the year 2000, the Tampa Tribune entered into partnership with TBO.com and the WFLA-TV in converged understanding. All of the companies are connected to the umbrella company of Media General.
In the year 2009, the executive editor of the newspaper, Janet Coats left. The newspaper is also operating in Highlands Today and the Hernando Today. The Tribune's local offshoots are situated in Brooksville and Sebring. The Sunday Magazine was also published in Florida Accent between 1960s and1970s.
