
Ringling Museum of Art: A Fantastic Place for Exploring the Ringling Legacy in Tampa
The Ringling Museum of Art in Tampa, Florida derives its name from John and Mable Ringling. This museum is the former residence of circus king John Ringling and his wife Mable Ringling. The home was built on 20 acres of land which was later transformed into a museum.
The Ringling Museum of Art operates from 10am to 5pm throughout the week. The fee for adults is $25, for children and students it is $10 and for seniors it is $20. If you come in a group of 20 people then discounted tickets are available.
The permanent exhibitions of the museum are divided into sections. The museum of art contains sculptures and paintings by John Ringling himself and other eminent artists like El Greco, Titian, Van Dyke and Ruben. The Circus section contains documents and specimens delineating the history of circus. Ca d'zan Mansion is an architectural masterpiece consisting of 56 luxurious rooms with beautiful furnishings.
This mansion reflects the American Dream. Another exhibition space in the Ringling Museum of Art displays various types of art specimens collected from around the globe. The Rose garden outside the building is a fantastic piece of art as well. Enjoy this part of the museum in open air by taking in the aroma of the exotic flowers.
Treviso Restaurant and Banyan Cafe are the two dining facilities in the museum premise. The cafe is a self service facility while the restaurant serves scrumptious meals to the visitors. You can either go for a self guided tour or a guided tour of the museum. The tours end at 4pm. Various types of public events take place in the museum. It is also home to an art library.
