
Museum of Science and Industry: A Place You Shouldn't Miss
The Museum of Science and Industry is science museum located in the city of Tampa which is a Gulf Coast Bay City of Florida. MOSI Tampa is established in the year 1980 and is accredited by American Association of Museums. Summer Science Camps are organized in the museum every year. These educational camps are for providing knowledge about various topics of science ranging from wild adventures to learning about sea creatures. These camps are the largest technological camps in US.
Another program called Kid in Charge is held to learn different scientific concepts. It is headed by children who provide feedback and innovative ideas. Notable exhibits of the show are bed of nails, tug of war etc. The hurricane exhibit at MOSI allows visitors to know about intensity of storm by experiencing the winds ranging from harmless rain storm to category one hurricane. All these provide an opportunity to enlighten and get prepared for a disaster.
There is a Bio-Works Butterfly Garden and self-sustaining fish pond which is the home of nearly 30 different species of butterflies and several aquatic species. Thousands of native butterflies which include largest butterfly species are raised each year in the laboratory. It has got alternate waste treatment and waste water treatment facility.
The exhibits in MetLife Foundation describe about steps to take in order to stay away from illness, getting well, medical conditions, diseases etc. The Museum of Science and Industry has got Florida's only IMAX Dome Theatre. The hemispherical Dome screen completely surrounds the viewer. The Saunders Planetarium is the only planetarium of Tampa. It holds all educational shows related to constellations and upcoming events etc. Sky watch events are held on Saturday which provides public an opportunity to use telescopes to watch Milky Way Galaxy at free of cost.
